Description
Simply formatted and easy to administer, the BPVS3 assesses receptive (hearing) vocabulary of children aged 3-16 years of age, identifying delays in vocabulary development even before children begin full time education. Its simple, appealing format and ease of administration belies the significance of the assessment and how it can help identify any delay in vocabulary development
Administered one-to-one, the teacher says a word and in response the pupil selects a picture from four options that best illustrates the word’s meaning. No reading is required as all responses are non-verbal, opening up BPVS3 to non-readers and in particular to those with expressive language impairments, autism or those with English as an Additional Language (EAL). To help with administration to pupils who may be colour blind, the illustrations have black outlines and vivid colours.
